Sports Chiropractic
Some Sports Chiropractors identify themselves merely by the fact they do Chiropractic on athletes with traditional adjustments.
At Mountain Movement Center we go much farther with our care of athletes. Because of our experience working with professional athletes and novice athletic teams for 9 years we apply the same care seen backstage at any major sporting event. We now bring our unique approach to Sports Chiropractic to Greenville, SC.
This type of Sports Chiropractic incorporates:
-Soft Tissue and Muscle Therapy
-Sports specific analysis and a catered home exercise plan
-Fascia balancing
-Treatment “functionally.” We have been known to treat the athletes while in a dynamic athletic position.
-Coordination of care with your coach, personal trainer, and other practitioners.
-Chiropractic care specific to your needs.
Why do Athletes need Chiropractic?
Athletes understand inherently they need their muscles and tendons to perform at their best. These structures are the strength and power for the endeavor they need to excel at.
But what most athletes overlook in imbalance in the joints. This is where a comprehensive treatment incorporating not only muscle but joint can give the athlete the pain free range of motion they have been looking for.
Who have we treated and what have we learned?
Our team has treated pro surfers, golfers, runners & triathletes. We have also treated semi pro paddlers, and cyclists.
Dr. Day served as team doctor to sole runners marathon team for 7 years, and Kahakai outrigger paddling for 2 years before relocating to Greenville, SC.
We get to the bottom of the problematic injury:
Because of the functional movement exam we can bettter analyze what is called the “kinetic chain.” Your muscles and joints are supposed to fire in a specific sequence. If they do not we will see inflammation, spasm, or tigthness at the point of compensation.
Most of athletic injuries that are overuse injuries are from this phenomenon.
The second most common cause are patterns in the body from a sport only moving the body in one direction. In a golfer for instance we want to make sure both sides of the body can rotate and bend in symmetry or eventually injury will occur.
The third athletic injury is trauma based. By applying taping techniques, electro-stimulation, vibration plate, gentle soft tissue therapy, and joint mobilization in the proper time we can decrease the time spent out of commission.
