My journey into the world of health and wellness began in the heart of Appalachia, where I was raised amidst the rolling hills and rugged landscapes. From a young age, I faced numerous health challenges, including migraines, reflux, Gilbert’s syndrome, and allergies to both foods and environmental factors. With a medical history that included a staggering 25 antibiotics during childhood and diagnoses of degenerative disc disease and scoliosis, I knew I needed answers – and I was determined to find them.
It wasn’t until I discovered chiropractic care and functional medicine that I finally found the solutions I had been searching for. Embracing these holistic approaches as a last-ditch effort, I dove headfirst into learning everything I could about natural healing and optimal wellness. Driven by a relentless pursuit of answers, I left behind my Appalachian roots and ventured to the epicenter of natural health in California.
In California, I immersed myself in the world of holistic health, working my way up from the ground floor to rubbing elbows with some of the brightest minds in functional medicine. Along the way, I had the privilege of working on the professional surfing tour, collaborating with experts in yoga clinics, and learning from pioneers of the functional medicine movement like Mark Hyman, Jeff Bland, and Rob Rakowski. I then went on to treat at a prestigious clinic in Advanced Wellness Center for many years and learned the techniques of Datis Kharrazian and his protocols which are central to my approach. Most importantly, I’ve been there and I know it’s not a cookie cutter approach to getting you well. My case was so tough to fix and so I am empowered to help even the toughest cases because I had to fix my brain, hormones, dybiosis, detoxification, and diet all in one.
